"Coach Tom"
Thomas MacPherson
IRONMAN ranked Coach Tom as the #1 non-professional athlete in Canada and 10th in the world aged 30-34 in the 2019 season. Tom is a full-time coach, 4-time Olympic distance nationals qualifier, 2 x IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship qualifier, and multiple IRONMAN Gold ‘All World Athlete’. Coach Tom is attending the University of Michigan to obtain his Master of Applied Data Science to assist in the more data-dependent style of coaching he believes in. Coach Tom is an award-winning and internationally published scientist who spent nearly 10 years in New York City as a molecular biologist in preclinical pharmaceutical development. He utilizes this experience to critically read and analyze scientific literature in exercise physiology and sports nutrition and applies the latest and greatest research to his athletes.
Coaching Purpose:
"To bring enjoyment and self empowerment to people of all capabilities. After nearly 10 years of developing pharmaceuticals for sick patients, I realized the importance of preventing such diseases. At TRI&TRI, we not only focus on success and self-improvement but health and longevity in the sport."
